PG&E delivers energy
PG&E is in the energy delivery business. Their job is to get energy from here to there – they purchase it from power plants and send it to our homes and offices.
Peninsula Clean Energy
In October of 2016, the County of San Mateo started taking advantage of a state law implemented in 2002 that allows local governments to take over the process of buying power with the goal of boosting green energy consumption and lowering rates for consumers. The non-proft Peninsula Clean Energy became the fifth such program implemented in California.
It’s easy being green with ECOplus
You may not even know that you are making the world a greener place – you were switched into the Peninsula Clean Energy program automatically. It’s not the way you receive energy but where it’s purchased from. If you haven’t changed anything since you were transferred over, the energy you’re using is ECOplus which is from 50% renewable sources.
